Licensing, Community Edition & Academic Access
An overview of Solidean's licensing: seat and floating subscriptions, the free Community Edition, OEM options, and academic access for research and teaching.
Solidean is now available to early adopters. Since this is our first public release, we want to be transparent about how licensing works today, and how you can get access.
Seat & Floating Licenses
Our main focus is on seat-based subscriptions:
- Named seats, tied to individual developers.
- Floating seats, shared across a team, checked out from a license server as needed.
This model is simple, scales well from small teams to larger engineering groups, and keeps support sustainable. As an early adopter, you can secure favorable long-term pricing and direct input into the roadmap.

OEM & Product Integration
Our priority is seat/floating licenses. That said, we are open to OEM and redistribution agreements, embedding Solidean into desktop, server, or cloud software.
These partnerships typically take longer to set up, but if you’re building products where robust booleans are strategic, we’d be happy to talk.
Free for Research & Teaching
We’re researchers at heart, and we want Solidean to enable new methods in academia. That’s why Solidean is free for non-commercial use:
- Research projects
- Teaching and courses
- Student work and theses
All core features are included, at no cost. The only requirement is attribution to the EMBER paper. Transitioning from academic to commercial use later is seamless.
Community Edition
The Community Edition is available as a free download for evaluation, research, and non-commercial use. It includes the full SDK so you can try Solidean in your own pipeline before committing to a commercial license.
For commercial use, contact us to discuss licensing.
Consulting & Integration Support
Beyond licensing, our company Shaped Code GmbH also offers consulting and contracting in geometry processing:
- First integration and pipeline setup
- Performance tuning
- Bespoke algorithm development
This is optional and separate from Solidean licenses: many teams start with product seats only, and add services later if they want to accelerate.
Why No Fixed Pricing?
Right now, Solidean is used in very different ways, from automated print farms to CAE preprocessing pipelines. Instead of a one-size-fits-all price list, we work directly with early adopters to set terms that reflect:
- Team size and license type (named vs floating)
- Intended use (internal tooling vs redistribution)
- Required level of support and collaboration
This ensures early adopters pay for the value they get. Nothing more, nothing less.
Closing
We’re a small startup, just releasing our first production version. This is the moment for early adopters to try the technology that will redefine solid geometry processing.
Whether you’re integrating Solidean into an automated pipeline, evaluating it for a product, or exploring it in a student project: we’d love to hear from you.
